Medical Practice History

Ear, Nose and Throat Associates of San Mateo dates its history back to 1948. At that time, Daniel Boudett started his practice in San Mateo, having completed his residency training at UC San Francisco and having served as a Flight Surgeon during World War II.

Dr. Boudett was the first private practitioner in the area to have specialized in Otolaryngology, as prior to that time the specialty of Ophthalmology was combined with Otolaryngology and specialists were Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat doctors.

In 1949, Alex Weisskopf completed his training at UC San Francisco and joined Dr. Boudett. In 1961, Ellis Ellison, who trained at University of Minnesota and practiced for nine years in Minneapolis, joined the practice. Subsequently his son David Ellison, who had trained at UCLA, joined the group and was part of the practice from 1986 to 2011.

Jennifer Bock Hughes, who completed her residency at UC San Francisco, joined the group in 1994. Dr. Albert Geller, who had completed residency training at the University of Iowa and had practiced in San Bruno, joined ENT Associates in 2000 and was part of the practice until his retirement in 2017.

In 2001 Terri Chipman, who completed her residency at the University of Wisconsin, relocated her practice from Los Altos to San Mateo. In 2002, Christina Laane completed her residency training at UC San Francisco and joined the practice as well. Sneh Lavingia is the newest addition to the practice. She joined in 2017, after completing her residency training at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
